Rhythm grid activities are a fun and engaging way of teaching rhythm concepts in the primary grades. They are more engaging than regular rhythm worksheets, but also far more versatile! These rhythm worksheets cover quarter note, eighth note, and quarter rest in both dot notation and standard notation and help students master the difference between beat and rhythm.
This package for grades 1 & 2 contains four different rhythm grids in two versions – dot notation and standard notation. The dot versions are perfect for introducing the basic concepts of rhythm, and then the standard notation versions can be used to reinforce understanding of the symbols. Several activity suggestions for both whole-class and center activities are included, as well as a blank version so students can create their own grids.
These music activities were created based on the Ontario Curriculum, but will align with most other curriculums as well.
