Drama Task Cards Activity with a super fun twist!
Looking for a low prep drama activity for your elementary class? These oral storytelling cards have a fun fairy tale theme and promote creativity – best of all, you can use them as drama task cards, story telling prompts, or even with action figures! This is a speaking and listening activity for drama, dramatic play, or collaborative storytelling that is a perfect alternative to typical readers theatre activities.
Students can work in small groups, either one at a time (performance based) or simultaneously around the room. (It could also easily be used as a center activity). After taking a prompt card for character, setting, and plot, they improvise their story.
I strongly believe that reading ability should not interfere with a child’s ability to enjoy or excel at drama. Popular activities such as reader’s theatre or drama circles are more about reading than they are performing. That’s why I create teaching resources that support improvisational drama skills so that all students can have a level playing field.
