Christmas Concerts for Elementary: Christmas In Hollywood (A Christmas Play Script)
This “Quick & Dirty” concert is designed for situations in which you may not have as much prep time, or are limited by other factors (work to rule, COVID, etc)
It is simple to put together, do not require a lot of blocking or staging, and do not require memorization for the speaking parts, while still creating a theme and cohesive idea to bring the concert together. This also makes it easy to perform as a pre-recorded concert.
“Christmas in Hollywood” is a mock film festival – instead of actually showing the films, the children perform songs from their soundtracks. In order to introduce each song, the speakers read text from the original trailers for those movies… but don’t reveal the name of the movie until after the song’s performance. Entertainment value from these introductions will depend on how well your speakers can really ham it up. (Deep voices and over the top expression will really sell it.)
Speakers: 7 – 12
- 1 introduction
- 5 trailer performers (each trailer can be split between 2 performers if preferred)
- 1 closing
Songs: 5
- Mele Kalikimaka
- Sleigh Ride
- White Christmas (Drifters version)
- It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas
- One More Sleep ‘Til Christmas
